ICE goes after the illegals in these states likely because there are still strong anti-illegal constuencies there and the illegals/green card hispanics have not become deeply imbedded in those southern states, so the pro-illegal groups such as la raza, mecha ,aclu lawyer clowns are relatively weak in those states.
ICE really has problems with going after employers hiring illegals in

ICE will not touch LA. They did last big raid/NOI in Vernon( Cent dwtn LA industrial district), late 2009 but that is last i have heard from them In entire Scal region. Here in Los Angeles and in my home city of long beach gang violence is an everyday occurrance. LA Times will not report it most times, except if a latino shoots a black then it become a federal civil rights issue.
The crimes committed by illegal alien gang bangers are wide ranging from ordinary purse snatchings to carjacking to armed robbery of liquor stores.
Much of these crimes are latino gangs battling each other in form of retaliation strikes and drive-bys which almost never get reported but you also have these gangs committing property crimes, vandalism, and robberies against the innocents over the entire city/region. Remember, LA is the origination for much of USA organized drug mafia gang activity and is where Salvador matrucia MS-13 was spawned. It all started in LA in the grimy dwtn and east LA illegal-alien apt stews back in 80's and early 90's before going nationwide at beginning of last decade.
In LA the gang problem is huge and protean, and really cannot be eradicated easily. There are 50,000 hard core gang members and 200 gangs in lA city alone, but add their associates and you boost the total numbers of gangstas in the county to over 100,000, even as high as 150,000, which is a sizable army in many countries. LAPD, LBPD and the other regional Police agencies really cannot get a grip on it and despite media organized PR publicity stunts advertising the success in busting this gang or that they really cannot do much except keep the gangs confined to the nasty inner city stews and protect the few clean middle class suburbs scattered around LA.

preliminary look & analysis of the CA Governors race
I am looking closely at the CA 2010 elections for governor and am narrowing my choices to either Meg Whitman or Steve Poizner. Both are very pro-business and at least will attempt to make CA more business friendly. Steve has come out as the more conservative candidate and has taken a firm stand against illegal immgration,to his credit. This may however end up costing him the Hispanic vote which makes up 10 % of the registered voters, and also may cost him some independent voters.
Meg has carefully avoided taking bold stances at all, and has just kept to sprouting standard anti-tax, anti big-gov platitudes, which is typical for the front runner in any election, which she appears to be at this point. She appears to be a socially moderate, fiscally conservative Republican, more like Arnold our current gov though Meg appears to be smarter and a lot more savvy in organizational/business talents. She also has attacked her opponents vigorously with what some would call negative campaign ads, which is ok with me as this is how politics is played these days, and the far left Dems are well known for attack dog smear politics.,
As for the Democratic candidate Jerry Brown, I will oppose him vigorously as he is just a prescription for more Ca leftist/socialist anti-business policies and he will completely kow tow to the public sector unions, which he boosted to a role as political arbiter in CA politics.
I get the feeling that Meg will be the Repub candidate as she has more wider appeal toward the middle and has lined up most of the big backers. She will also get the benefit of big corporate megabucks spending which has become unleashed with the recent supreme court decision. If she does become Brown's opponent she will win because all Californians are sick of the liberal socialist failure of CA and it's careless spending and big tax hikes/looting of taxpayers and want a repub to oppose the tax happy spend and loot Dems who are now in control of CA.

I have a personal interest in these stories of pot growing in the Ca mountains as i have hiked and backpacked in a lot of those mts, though much of my trips in the local LA/Scal ranges was way back in the 70s' ,and most of my sierra jaunts were done in the 90's.
Back in the 70's i hiked all over the San Gabriels and San Berdoo mt ranges and often in remote areas deep in those mts. back then then there were no large scale pot farms anywhere or i would have stumbled upon them, and likely would have been nabbed and shot.
Back then the local mts were safe and free of Mex/cartel pot farms, LA/Scal was a mostly clean region with few immigrants and few slums, no frwy graffiti, a land of clean tidy suburbs, and CA schools and Gov't were still top notch. U could hike in safety all over the local mts and only had to worry about ticks,, sunburn, tree snags, blisters and not worry about stumbling upon a trip wired pot farm guarded by armed Michocan gangsta/thugs who could cut u down deep in the mts and make u dissappear without a trace.
That was LA back then, now it is much more dangerous to hike into the hills unless u stick to a few popular crowded trails and don't stray off the beaten path.

This article from Alipac states that US public lands, particularly U.S. national Forest lands in the CA mountains, are being converted into pot growing farms by imported mexican drug cartel operations. Here in the local forests outside LA there are pot farms in abundance, and they are popping up all over the SCal hilly regions of Riverside, San Berdoo, and San Diego, and even in the Cleveland National forest of Orange County. Not much can be done about it because these NF lands are very lightly patrolled by park rangers in the remote back country expanses.
Given the increasing third world aspect of SCAL with its dense immigrant population, a fair proportion of them being illegal-alien imported criminals organized into criminal syndicate operations, I am not at all surprized. Also the increasing acceptance and use of pot in liberal 'progressive' CA has fed this explosive increase in pot growing. There are also large pot growing operations in the northern CA mountain and coastal regions but they are likely run by the local inhabitants.
Implications for LA/SCal region of these pot growing operations:
Is it not surprizing that we hear about these big pot busts inside big Mcmansions in the outer exurbs of LA and the IE? There have been qiute a few recenty in areas such as city of industry diamond bar, hacienda hts, SGab valley, walnut, rowland hts, as well as out in the IE. . Not to mention big busts of pot farms in the local mts. Is greater LA basin becoming a third world corrupt region like Mexico/ tijuana , with local/ imported drug cartels, city street drug runners, large- scale marijuana growing operations?. Or is this just a commonplace occurrance for a large mostly third world ghettoized city like LA , which after all is the
focus and world leader of so many illegal imported or home grown criminal syndicate operations, due in large part to a large tractless undocumented population which can conduct its illegal activities using forged/fake /stolen ID docs and identities and easily evade law authorities by slipping in and out of the border.
I further submit the claim that Ca and local city gov'ts have not a clue or simply do not care , and/or are isolated in their cubicles and simply do not have any street knowledge, or may even in a few cases be in on the action.
LA civic leaders have their heads so far up the arse that they cannot see the problem even if it sat on them. T o illustrate, back in the 80's-90's every illegal who came across-an estimated 10 million- went straight to Macarther park in westlake district to get fake green cards which instantly gave fabricated right- to- work doc's. All this took place less than a mile from dwtm la so this crap was conduced right under the noses of La City hall

Checking on immgrants status in our local jails-a complete joke

Then the program is a joke. LA County has at least 50 separate local police agencies and Scal must must have over 100. I know of only 2 or 3 OC county PD's out of the total which are participating. LA county likely has no agencies participating. The reason is political pressure from the powerful pro-illegal city unions and their politician puppets here in LA.
The far left radical appointees in the Obama adm have effectively emasculated these and other law enforcement tools to go after illegal immigrants who have entered into US illegally. They make a show of the few criminal alien sweeps to assuage the gullible public but otherwise have shown that they will not touch the average illegal even at the worksite working illegally.
