"Welfare payments to children of illegal immigrants in Los Angeles County increased in July to $52 million, prompting renewed calls from one county supervisor to rein in public benefits to such families.

The payments, made to illegal immigrants for their U.S. citizen children, included $30 million in food stamps and $22 million from the CalWORKS welfare program, according to Los Angeles County figures released Friday by Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.

The new figure represents an increase of $3.7 million from July 2009 and makes up 23% of all county welfare and food stamp assistance, according to county records.

Last year, welfare and food stamp issuances totaled nearly $570 million, an amount projected to exceed $600 million this year. In addition, county taxpayers spend $550 million in public safety -- mostly for jail costs -- and nearly $500 million for healthcare for illegal immigrants, Antonovich said.

“The supervisor is very concerned,” said Antonovich spokesman Tony Bell. “He believes we have an economic catastrophe on our hands.”

Shirley Christensen of the county Department of Public Social Services said the number of households with illegal immigrant parents and U.S. citizen children receiving welfare increased by 7% from January to June of this year.

“With the economy the way it is, a lot of people have had to avail themselves of programs they may not have needed before,” Christensen said. “Everyone is taking a hit, including undocumented immigrants.”

Amid continued economic gloom, debate has intensified over the public cost of providing benefits to illegal immigrants and their U.S. citizen children. In recent months, calls have grown for a constitutional amendment that would effectively deny citizenship to the children of illegal immigrants, whose numbers have increased from 2.7 million in 2003 to 4 million in 2008, according to the Pew Hispanic Center.

At present, U.S. citizenship is automatically granted to children born on U.S. soil. Last month, U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) announced he might introduce a constitutional amendment to deny citizenship to children of illegal immigrants. Antonovich and several legal scholars, however, argue that a federal statute is sufficient to change the law.

But even some immigration hawks are wary of such a move. Steven Camarota of the Center for Immigration Studies, a Washington-based research organization that supports immigration restrictions, said ending birthright citizenship would hurt children for their parents' misdeeds, require new federal registration systems and create other problems. The ultimate solution, he said, is to continue driving down illegal immigration with tough enforcement."

This is just a whitewashed attempt to paint a rosy picture of fabricated illegal immigration reduction numbers as a prop for the Dems fall election campaign. It is meant to mollify and sooth the independent voter block, moderate Dems and even moderate Republicans into thinking that our illegal immigration problems are being solved, even as the real picture tells a different story. My estimation, based upon much study on this issue, is that Arizona alone had 1/2 million illegals invading across their borders each year in 2007-2009. That includes repeat re-crossers, which the U.S bureau of liars in our Fed gov chooses to ignore.

"I applaud Arizonas tough stance on illegal immigration. At least that state is facing up to the massive problems of illegals invading across the Arizona border and wreaking havoc on law enforcement. AZ is only responding to the epidemic of crime and lawlessness from the cartel drug wars spilling over into Arizona.

CA has for too long allowed illegals to roam freely, and freeload on the state's welfare programs thru their anchors. No other country allows foreign nationals to enter illegally thru our open borders so easily as the US does. Here illegals are allowed to run free in the streets, commit massive ID/ doc fraud and SS theft in obtaining jobs, and engage in wholesale criminal activities such as drug/human smuggling, auto insurance fraud, EITC fraud, mortage fraud, medi-cal fraud, bogus 'civil rights' lawsuit fraud, ect.
That time has come to and end with US in bad recession/ depression, and official UE at 10 %(CA at 13%), real U-6 UE at 17%(CA at 20+%). Americans are demanding that the drawbridge be raised and there be a complete moratorium to any more immigration, legal and illegal, till the UE rate dips to under 6%. Obama Adm is deporting at rate of close to 400,000 per year: we need to deport a million/2 miilion a year till 20-30 million UE/underemployed American citizens are put back to work. "

"This PC'ed article by the LA Times regarding illegals is aided/abetted by the CA Liberal progressive Dems, SEIU, and the Obama adm, which is proposing amnesty by executive decree, attacking AZ, and actually encouraging even more illegal immigration. The ultra LIB 'progressive' Dems only want the votes to stay in power and it does not matter to them if LA/CA are becoming third world ghettoized cesspools. Votes and keeping power is all that matters: just throw freebees at the howling 3rd world proletariat masses and keep them in line with state handouts and laker games.

I have looked at location of New Robert F Kennedy school in Los Angeles, which cost a whopping 587 million. It is located at 3400 Wilshire Blvd in Korea Town, at former site of the Historic Ambassador Hotel. Goog map still shows it under construction. It lies on Wilshire blvd between Normandie and Vermont Ave, and stretches south from Wilshire to 8th street.

Koreatown along that stretch of Wilshire is a busy commercial strip of high-rises which houses mostly Chinese-korean businesses, and is the center for the far East LA expat/immigrant community. But if u go away from that busy commercial strip even a few blocks u get into the koreatown ghettos, which are mostly filled with recent latino immigrants. They in fact surround and inundate this district.

Koreatown is volatile, largely marginal, and is considered a high-crime district. Remember the LA riots in 1992 and also that 17-year old female high school student who was abducted/murdered by a transient.

From Koreatown all the way east to the edges of LA DWTN(Think Pico-Union, Westlake, drug-infested MacAarthur park)is a degenerated run-down illegal immigrant-filled district which lies almost in the shadows of LA DWTN high rises. Go north/NE to the 101 freeway and you get into more degenerated illegal-immigrant slumzones such as Rampart.

The LASUD, who's gleaming headquarters hi-rise is one mile east at 333 Beaudry street(the 1st street west of Harbor Freeway 110), built this costly boondoogle school to educate the districts huge anchor kids population, who are mostly anchor offspring of illegals or recent green card immigrants. Also put up in 2008 was the Edward R. Roybal Learning Center( site of costly environ cleanup when it was known as Belmont High), which cost 377 million. It is just a few blocks up the street from the LAUSD command center hi-rise. Roybal is in an even worse ghetto area than RFK.

90% of the kids in these costly state-of-the-art schools will be anchor kids of working class/impoverished Hispanic immigrants(including illegals) at cost of 15,000-20,000 per kid if you factor in cost of the buildings.

I will not delve too much into the byzantine bond/taxpayer funding for the schools, or for all the other 100+ new/refurbished primary schools which have been or are in process of being built all over LA City/County, most of them in impoverished or declining districts heavily populated/re-populated by recent immigrants. All i will say is the voters of LA/CA passed these bond measures early to mid decade before the great CA economic collapse from 2008 to present.

The ongoing ghettoization of my home city of Long beach

Yesterday, I drove thru my home city of long beach right down central/east section along Cherry ave. Cherry ave has become very ghettoized/latinoized. There are now dozens and dozens of latino immigrant-owned shops along a 2-mile stretch of Cherry, from Mex ranch market to panderas shop. And yes cherry ave has become a typical latinoized/ghettoized street like 1000's all over LA. BTW the LB ghetto starts at western edge of LB at LA river/710 freeway) and spreads east all way to past Redondo Ave.

As far as i know LB is not an 'official' sanctuary city harboring illegals, but i know that LBPD will not ask for immigration status of illegals they pull over or detain on the streets. Their policy mirrors LA.

The vast majority of Americans want to see our immigration laws enforced thru continued ICE Raids, a nationwide E-Verify law, and stronger border security, not legislation that provides blanket amnesty to those who have broken our laws. US economy is in a very severe recession with high unemployment. Lots of American citizens are out of work and need assistance. Providing amnesty to illegals is the wrong prescription in a near-depression economy with 17-20% REAL U-6 unemployment.

It is just plain wrong to allow amnesty and forgiveness for millions of lawbreaking illegal immigrants who used fake doc's and forgery to get jobs which should go to law-abiding Americans. No amnesty and deport all those who entered here illegally. And secure our borders. Mr President, wake up and realize that there are millions of UE Americans without work yet millions of illegals who have entered the country illegally last 20-30 years who are now holding down jobs obtained using fake ID doc's. Do you stand behind the average out of work Joe Citizen or are you a pawn to the big greedy exploiting corporations who prefer paying cheap wages to illegals who BTW also suck gov't benefits and drain the social security net, causing states like CA to be deeply in debt.

California has a 13 % official UE rate. The real U-6 UE rate is close to 25%. That means one in four Californians are either out of work or reduced to part time. CA also has 3 million illegals. 2 million of those are holding down non-agricultural laboring and blue collar jobs often obtained using fake/phony work documents. 2 Million foreign nationals have displaced 2 million UE California citizens. Are you the president of US or Mexico?
No other country allows 10-20 million foreign nationals to flood into a country illegally and steal away jobs from American Citizens.

Maywood - background & google map

Maywood, CA, is a tiny municipality located a half-dozen miles southeast of DWTN Los Angeles. It is literally surrounded by East/SE LA's large grimy industrial district and railroads, some of the grittiest districts in America. The surrounding municipalities of Bell, Bell Gardens, Huntington Park,and Cudahy are some of the poorest, densest, heavily immigrant latino districts in US. Maywood is 96% latino, and 1/4 of its population is likely illegal. It has long been known that Maywood civic government is corrupt, a trait it shares with other cities along the Alameda railroad corridor such as South Gate, Vernon, Bell, Compton. ect.

Here is satellite image of Maywood and entire area of SE LA. Maywood is so screwed up that the Maywood riverside park was declare an EPA superfund site(enviro wasted zone). Scrow & pan around: North, west ,and east of Maywood are LA's huge industrial/warehouse/railroad yards district, one of largest collections of industrial firms in US. Numberless railroad tracts snake up and stream in from LA/LB harbors and coil all over here.
Taking Bandini, Washington, distrcit blvds westward u see endless series of large factories and 18 wheelers galore. Taking downey north will get you into east LA. and after navigating a tortuous maze of rutted roads, freeway intersections and 3rd world hoods u can slowly wind your way into dwtn LA, basically heading due west by northwest.
The residential tracts adjacent to these industrial districts, which comprise the cities of Maywood, Huntington Park, Bell, East LA, Bell Gardens, Southgate, and South/ central LA are densely packed, ghettoish, 90% dezoned, 80-90% recent immigrant( 30-40% illegal), impoverished, and basicaly some of the most run- down 3rd world districts in LA and CA.

BTW Slauson Ave, which runs straight thru Maywood and all way west to 110 freeway, is a good introduction to the gritty 3rd world impoverished aspect of South LA. There is no more seamier,grimy,gutted,3rd worldish thoroughfare in USA than Slauson.

Illegal alien wars-a personal perspective part 1

My virulent fanatical opposition to all immigration reform dates back to the late 90's. Before that i was heavily engaged with the los Angeles immigrant community from my work contacts. I have lived and worked in LA last 3 decades, when the flood-tide of illegal immigration from south of border into LA heavily impacted this City. Back then, during the heady boom-boom days of 80's-90's, no one gave a rats ass about illegal immigration here in LA, as illegal immigration had not yet exploded all over US, being confined here in LA up till end of last century. But what i saw during that period in LA-the gazillion scams & frauds committed by illegals- would make anyone's head explode. There is no fraud or scam committed by illegals which i had not witnessed, or received first hand accounts of.
All you need to know to realize the extent of the scamming by illegals is that during 80's-90's every illegal arriving in LA could go to MacArthur Park, less than one mile west of DWTN LA, and get fake work authorization cards(green cards), fake/stolen SS cards,and any other fabricated Fake ID's.

How many did this i cannot say but it must be in the millions. LA was the great incubator for illegals before they broke out and spread all over US at beginning of this century/millinium. LA has and will always be the epicenter and boiling point in any illegal immigration battle. It is the great illegal-alien core city of USA, where they cannot be touched. No LA politician nor police agency will touch it here. Even if Villarigosa leaves, any new mayor/newly-elected LA politician, no matter what political stripe, will be in the pockets of the illegal alien lobby forces. Not just in LA but all across CA every city council with exception of a handful in the conservative OC cringes at the thought of fighting the illegal alien activists who swarm the local city halls, backed by the ACLU and labor unions.

In CA, we may yet see the public turn decisively against illegals but it will take a massive revolutionary shift/sea change in public opinion, which i do not foresee anytime soon.

Look at map of OC and check out the 4 cities radiating out from the Orange Crush Freeway interchange. "California's nearly 3 million illegal immigrants cost taxpayers nearly $9 billion each year, according to a new report released last week by the Federation for American Immigration Reform, a Washington, D.C.-based group that promotes stricter immigration policies.

Educating the children of illegal immigrants is the largest cost, estimated at $7.7 billion each year, according to the report. Medical care for illegal immigrants and incarceration of those who have committed crimes are the next two largest expenses measured in the study, the author said.

Pro-immigrant groups and Latino researchers dispute the federation's findings, calling them biased and incomplete.

Jack Martin, who wrote the report, said Thursday that the $9 billion figure does not include other expenses that are difficult to measure, such as special English instruction, school lunch programs, and welfare benefits for American workers displaced by illegal immigrant workers"

Comments: Everywhere i go in LA i see young immigrant/anchor Latinas, or less likely other ethnic immigrant mom's, strolling down sidewalks pushing toddler(s)in carriages. The moms' may be illegal or US-born citizen offspring of illegals. They are usually low education/low skilled/unskilled, and likely collecting free health/welfare and other handouts per each kid they are strolling. I see $1000/2000 per month per kid payed for by the bankrupt CA treasury. This has been very common all over LA County last 30 years- the high fertility rates of immigrant Latinas, who often give birth in their teens, when they are most unskilled and in need of county aid. It was actually an epidemic in the poorer impoverished parts of LA such as Compton and SE LA County back in the 80's and 90's.

What this leads to is a continuing population explosion among the recent immigrant Hispanic population in LA, and this contributes to a burgeoning welfare problem for LA county, which has 3 million on the direct welfare rolls. This info has usually been suppressed by the local and regional LA politicians as they are beholden to the Hispanic voting block to stay in power, and the truth will never come out(except in a few scholarly studies by organizations such as FAIR) that LA County alone charges CA/Fed taxpayers three billion plus per year on health, welfare payouts, and county direct relief to illegals and their anchor spawn, and this does not include indirect education costs for illegals.

Even if by some miracle US/CA halted anymore illegal immigration today, just the high domestic birthrates of illegals/green carders/anchors already here will continue to tilt demographics more and more toward Hispanics, who are well over 1/3rd of all CA residents. This has had/will have ominous political implications for CA politics and policy now and well into the future, a topic for another day.

progress of 'Boycott LA' movement

The great 'lets boycott LA City Movement' is underway. I expect LA to lose a BILLION+ dollars in tourist revenue just this summer due to it's stupid boycott of Arizona. If you want to visit SCal beaches try Orange Counties Huntington Beach, Bolsa Chica, Doheny, San Clemente state beaches, Laguna & Newport beach. All of them are cleaner, nicer, and more accessible than LA's beaches.

I have repeatedly on my facebook account and on this blogsite called for boycott of LA, the great illegal-alien black hole region of USA. I need to point out specific tourist sites to avoid if u do decide to visit LA on business or for other reasons.

1 Avoid Hollywood, which is a degenerated filthy ragged zone with cheap curio shops ,and the Graumens Chinese theater is a disgusting hovel not worth the visit. Besides traffic is hell in hollyweird.

2 Avoid the LA County Museums, which are located deep within the south-central LA ghetto. It has it merits but the entire area around it is a typical SCentral LA ghetto zone.

3 Avoid Venice beach. It is gang-infested and a playground for the local shoreline crips/other local gangs. Unless you like weird offbeat ragged folks and pot shops.

4 Burbank movie/TV studios are outside of LA City and are still in a somewhat decent area so go there if you like movies. Avoid nearby Universal Studios, which is in LA. Difficult traffic area to get to, and area around it has degenerated all up and down Cahuenga blvd.

5 LA Dwtn has nothing of note worth visiting. Chinatown, Olivera street, fashion district,convention center,little Tokyo, even Staples center, are located within near-ghettos. LA dwtn is hot, yellowish, smog choked, all concrete slab, and clogged with commuters, and the areas around LA dwtn are all filthy 3rd world ghettos. Nothing worth visiting in LA dwtn. Stay away, unless you like to be set upon by legions of ragged homeless, and do not mind urinated trashed sidewalks.

6 Pasadena, Beverly hills ,Santa Monica. and long beach are outside LA City so you might be selective and go to those places. Scenic Pasadena may yet(if they haven't already)vote to boycott LA so keep informed. Long beach, my home city, has not voted for the boycott and i do not think they will(i will raise hell at CH if they do).
You may do a long beach visit combined with visit to OC beaches(LB and OC are fairly close). LB has it's faults but at least u get cool summer breezes from close proximity to the harbor and shoreline.

LA County board of supervisors just voted by a narrow 3-2 margin to boycott Arizona over SB 1070. I have listened to the accounts of the Board meeting on AM Talk radio most of the day, and from all accounts it was quite contentious and heated. One prominent voice against the boards actions was the father/family of Jamiel Shaw, a promising black teen who was shot by an illegal gang banger. The father was forceably removed from the meeting amid catcalls & boos from the bussed-in pro-ilegal activists who had packed that meeting.

Why LA City favors illegals

Most folks are amazed if not angered over LA city council's actions in voting for the Arizona boycott. Now we have the LA County board of Supervisors voting on an LA County boycott(latest unconfirmed news is that the board just voted by 3-2 margin for the boycott).

If u knew LA as well as i do it would not be a surprise. 13 out of 14 council members called for a boycott. Their districts are in many cases predominantly Hispanic, most of them recent immigrants legal and illegal, with vast majorities from south of border. Many districts are 80-90% hispanic immigrant, and are typically in impoverished regions such as the East San Fernando Valley, or South Central.
A 150 sq mile section of South LA is 80% hispanic immigrant, and east SFV is about same in sq mile and % of latino immigrants. Latino immigrants have inundated every district of LA City, even into the tidy LA Westside. This heavy inundation of recent Hispanic immigrants over a 30 year span has altered the very nature of LA, making it in fact as Mexicanized/Latinoized as any city south of the border.

Here is the fundamental fact about LA: it is in fact a foreign city-state run by politicians catering to the whims of their immigrant hispanic consituents. LA has 4 million souls. 70% of them are recent hispanic immigrants legal/green card/illegals or their US born anchor offspring. There are 1/2 million illegals in LA. You can drive thru LA 10 miles in some sections and you only encounter folks speaking no English, only Spanish. In fact you feel like you are the foreigner if you are a non- hispanic travelor/visitor.

This march by the pro-illegal,pro-amnesty SEIU in dwtn Long beach is no surprise, as it reflects the general trend toward the ghettoization of LB,LA and CA due to massive illegal alien invasion.

The state and city are dead broke and LB has a 15% UE rate(real UE rate is close to 30%) so the chance for anyone currently UE to get a job is close to zilch, yet the illegals want amnesty? get real.

The corrupt ultra-leftist CA Dem politicians have created and perpetuated ghettos by their policy of unlimited welfare handouts, allowing jobs & benefits-stealing illegals to inundate CA, and have turned CA into the big sugar daddy and free ATM for the state's 10-15 million shiftless and welfare spongers. yet we are suppose to take the SEIU seriously?

Long beach is already infested with more gang bangers and all other assorted outscourings of society than any other city of it's size save Oakland. Long beach, the ghetto by the sea, has a talent for attracting the best and brightest as one can witness by a simple drive down Atlantic ave/long beach blvd or along PCH between the west edge of city and lakewood circle. Yet we are suppose to grant amnesty/allow open borders so that LB can pack even more illegals/criminal gang bangers into the 3rd world blighted hoods of central/western/north LB.

Costa Mesa's 'rule of law' does not apply to LA

I applaud Costa Mesa's stance on being a 'rule of law' city. Too bad there is no rule of law in LA or even large parts of the OC, which allow illegal alien criminal syndicates/gang bangers and their criminal gang banging spawn offspring to roam at will without the ability of police to stop, question and detain. We have an epidemic of illegal alien- spawned gangstas driving around LA roads packing heat, and the illegal alien packed ghettos are rampant with crime, guns, drug dealing, drug/ human smuggling, gang- to -gang shootings, property crimes, ect.

There are two sets of law in LA, one for law-abiding citizens, and another one for undocumented illegal alien criminals who drive with suspended or no drivers license, no insurance, expired registration, who willfully disregard CA driving laws, who use fake, fraudulent ID's to obtain jobs and benefits illegally, who commit felonies and flee back to Mexico, and then return again and again after multiple deportations.

I've seen lots of this crap after living 30+ years in LA and seeing this city turn into one gigantic favela in about 3 decades.

Short comment on this protest. It took place at Wilshire blvd a few blocks east of 405 freeway, probably in front of federal bldg in LA Westside. A small group of illegal alien protestors staged a sit-down/laydown protest right on Wilshire blvd.

Their ringleader was one Nancy Meza, 23, a UCLA student who is an undocumented illegal protesting for passage of the Dream Act. Her timing,location and tactics were letter perfect. That protest jammed traffic all along 405 freeway, wilshire blvd, and seized up traffic in entire surrounding area for several hrs. Wilshire blvd exit off 405 is one of busiest in entire LA, and there must have been a lot of enraged commuters stuck in traffic for hrs.

I have driven through there in heavy traffic, and even in normal tims it is a nightmare at rush hr. The LA Westsiders are normally a tolerant and liberal lot, but they do get enraged by insane Westside traffic tie-ups. I do not imagine this protest will be received with much forgiveness by even liberal tolerant Westsiders. Her biggest mistake was to enrage John and Ken, the influencial AM 640talk show hosts, who were involved in the traffic tie-up , and who in a spate of anger launched a phone/mail tirade against Nancy Meza's twitter and facebook accts.

I predict that the pro ilegal-alien, liberal LA Times will bury this incident, to avoid the angry comments which will inundate their pro-illegal rag over this outrageous tie-up caused by less than a dozen illegal alien student protestors.

Lakers coach Phil Jackson's courageous stand

I want to thank Coach Jackson for his courage in standing up to the anti-arizona, anti-SB 1070 hysterical inner city mobs and slimy politicians who only whore themselves to the illegal-alien latino voter block to garner votes to stay in power, unlike Jackson who is likely the greatest NBA coach of all time and cannot be bribed nor intimidated. Unlike the slimy greaseball money-grubbing politicians infesting Los Angeles and CA, who only suck up/down to the hysterical loony leftist inner city minority mobs , Jackson takes a truly independent courageous stand in favor of enforcing America's immigration laws, impartially but firmly.
