My comments:

Here's the reality of Montebello (Bello for short). Bello is a rather dismal forgettable bland burg located 15 miles directly east of LA DWTN. It is sited close to the west bank of the San Gabriel/Rio Hondo River. The oldest sections of the city are likely sited on bluffs & hills overlooking the river flood plain. This is where much of the aging factory/ commercial parks are sited. 1/2 of the city is the largely commercialized/industrialized section south of Olympic/Whittier Blvds. This south leg abuts City of Commerce along the western margin and is largely lower-working/laboring class. This mixed industrail/ residential zone is also heavily populated by recent latino immgrants. Ghettoized East LA jabs bello at it's NW margin, and both cities share the near 100% latinoized Whittier Blvd , which is a major east-west regional LA traffic artery, 100 % third world thoroughfare, and well known for latino/cholo cruising events. There is nothing notewothy in Bello.

Farther north near 60 fwy there are scattered areas of somewhat tidy suburban tract homes on Bello's hills, which are plainly visible as you travel along freeway 60 out of LA Dwtn. There is also a few industrail areas sited off 60 fwy. Bello never has been the Beverly Hills of East/SE LA, as latimes mistakenly attributes to it. It has always been the way it is today. Just another map color zone among a 100 or so map colors on an LA thomas guide map. Another bland faceless LA exurb. Bello does have a large Chinese expat presence, as does much of the region north and west of it, but it also is adjacent to East LA and also close to the grimy LA ghettos which encroach it from the south and east. Much ghetto population outflow issues out of the grimy densely packed 3rd world Alameda Corrider( think Bell, Maywood, South Gate, Compton, ect). These cities contain large numbers of illegals/recent latino immigrants which swarm all over LA inner areas and increasingly into outer exurb areas like Bello.

NOTE: I have delivered many times to exurban Bello hilltop residentail areas. They remind me of Baldwin Hills & Silverlake District. All of them exclusive tidy exurban islands surrounded by grimy dank lowland ghettos like isolated celtic hilltop forts.

l also once delivered to a bello business establishment in a small bello commercial park. It was run by asian immigrant expats, and the operation reeked of a scam. It was some type of off- the- books business dealing with exports/ imports and/or a real estate boilerplate operation ( my recollections somewat hazy here). However, it reeked of a shady business scam as does entire corrupt Montebello city administration.

'Last week, in the middle of the night, a resident on Pacific Avenue noticed an RV parked the wrong way in front of her home. She heard some noise, then noticed a passenger getting out of the RV, and removing the cap to the sewage tank. The woman jumped back into the RV and drove away intentionally allowing gallons of sewage to spill out onto the street....

The resident called 911 and the LAPD was able to track down the RV. The resident made a citizen's arrest and the woman was taken into custody. Despite numerous calls and complaints, the raw sewage remained on the street for days. Finally, residents notified KFI News and I began making calls and inquiries. Finally, after 6 days, councilman Bill Rosendahl's office requested a clean up crew to go to the area and remove the waste. I was there while the crew cleaned up the mess from Pacific Avenue...

When asked why it took a week to respond to requests for cleanup, a Rosendahl aide told me it was the first he'd heard of it. At least 7 residents confirmed a face-to-face meeting with Rosendahl last Thursday in one of his satellite offices...

On Tuesday night a resident called to tell me the city contacted her to notify her that one of the areas where RV's typically park was declared a bio-hazard and the LAPD was evacuating RV's.'

I just watched Blade Runner for umpteeth time. It depicts a futuristic LA , somewhat Far East influenced. The film's artists got much right, but they factored out the impact of the latino invasion of LA. The film needed to add depictions of futuristic space taco wagons, latino bars, latino billboards, and streets filled by Latino vendors selling churros, pollos, balloons, flowers, mangos ect. The future of LA say 10 years from now, actually a reality today, is a completely Latinoized city, a city in which Spanish is spoken at street level but the mid-top level Gov bureacracy, PD and politicians are still doing business in English.
As it stands now 70-80% of the cities laboring force is Hispanic. That includes janitors, warehouse workers, shop workers, hotel workers, rest workers, landscape maint, nannies,low-level delivery drivers, ect. This huge proletariat population is easily demagouged by the LA politicians and swayed into voting the far left Democrat agenda.

Why LA has not had a riot despite the dismal state of the economy?

Tons of stumulus aid are being funneled into LA ghettos, courtesy of OBAMA( the former community organizer). Biggest benficiaries are African- Americans, latino youths, and other minority 'at risk teens', and young adults ages 16-24. There have been set up tons of temp summer/ make work /jobs corps programs set up in south LA region including long beach. Add to that unlimited stimulus $ poured into bolstering medi-cal, urban renewal, CallWorks, WIA, ect. They have quelled unrest in the ghetto so far, and groups such as Acorn( or whatever they morphed into) will see that the LA Poor are well provided.

Rialto is a degenerated slumzone located next to the impoverished hellhole of San Bernadino City. The entire zone, bounded by the 15, 10, 210, and 215 freeways and surrounding areas just outside this zone, has become a degenerated 3rd world degraded sinkhole in San Berdoo County. The cities/districts within this zone-South Fontana, Rialto, San Berdoo city, Colton- collectively constitute a dismal quad composed of ramshankle huts, foreclosed properties, and illegal alien packed tenements/homes. last decade saw a massive migration into the IE of folks fleeing out of LA seeking cheaper properties as LA home prices went thru the roof during 2004-2007 Re runup. They obtained cheap homes in SB and Riverside Counties, using low cost liar loans, and when RE prices went south after 2007 the entire bubble collapsed , and entire region became a bombed out district of depressed property values filled with unruly minorites and immigrant illegals, as well as sullen underemployed native Californians who still called IE their home.

Now back to the topic of police romping with strippers in 3rd world Rialto. This relates to the larger topic of strip clubs proliferating all over SoCal, usually in depressed, rundown, de-zoned or semi-industrialized areas. "Handing out matricular cards to Mexicans who are not in this country legally is wrong no matter where it's done," he said. "But on Catalina it will do more damage. It's a small island but there's evidence it's being used as a portal for illegals to access mainland California...
"Mexican officials with the consular office in Los Angeles could not be reached immediately for comment. The matricular consular identification card, is issued by the Mexican government to Mexican nationals residing outside the country, regardless of immigration status. The purpose is to provide identification for opening bank accounts and obtaining other services. But the cards are usually used to skirt U.S. immigration laws, since Mexicans in the country legally have documents proving that status, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said."
( Fake Matricular cards would be as easy to produce as fake green cards. LA likely has a 1000 phony doc mills in operation as we speak).

Final note: Catalina Island was once a popular tourist destination and charming island resort for Southern Californian locals. No more. It has become as infested with illegal alien- spawned gangs as any inner LA ghettoized hood, and there was once an attack by the local gangbangers upon a group of female student visitors, who were set upon with thrown beer bottles. I live near long beach harbor, which has the Catalina express plying the 22 mile channel to and from Catalina daily, but i will not go there.

A short purview of LA's ghetto districts

What most folks who are not familiar with LA realize is just how big it is and spread out it is with literally 1000's of densely packed hoods and districts strewn all over the landscape. Much of these hoods are either declining former middle class burgs declined into run down semi-slums,often rezoned into apartment/SFH/townhome mishmashes, or already rotted ghettos. Then there are out and out pure ghetto apt slum districts such as those surrounding DWTN LA and in the 3rd world steaming pile called Northeast San Fernando Valley, and of course infamous South Central LA, but you will find these gang infested graffiti-ed ghettos all over the city.

I wrote this detailed description of 3 LA zips back during height of RE bubble insanity in early 2007 when RE fraud and 300-400% markups of RE in LA ghetto zones was rampant:

'The ghettoization and conversion of LA into a humongous third-world festering gang-infested black hole region is largely ignored by the MSM especially our LA times due Mainly to ignorance, naivety, or PC correctness. These are just three chosen slumzips to give an example:there are hundreds of slumzone zips like these all over LA county. I looked at data for home prices/ sales in many of these slumzones last 2 years and have been thru many of these hoods.
In Pacoima 91331 i saw homes selling for $500,000+ and a few listed as high as 3/4 of a million. Pacoima is one of the worst slums areas of the east SVF and a hotzone for RE fraudulent activity.
Lennox 90304(Inglewood/lax area) is one of nastiest blighted slumburgs in LA
yet i saw ton's of teardown/refurbished quick fix & flip 2/1,s going for $450,00-500,000 as late as last june.
LA zip 90011 which is directly south of LA dwtn is a real nasty polluted inner LA ghetto zip within earshot of dwtn. Median prices here averaged close to 1/2 mil in mid-2007. There was so much dumping and polluting in this hood, as with most of the ghetto hoods i've been thru, that it could have been declared an EPA superfund site.'

I can go into detail about a 100 more zips which are similarly ghettoized but will cite just a few more La dumps:
Wilmington- grimy LA port city with sizable illegal alien and gang element
Maywood: City is almost run and controlled by massive 18th st gang and is a complete ghetto district. Ditto for its sister hoods cudahy and bell

La Puente:illegal alien/gang-infested ghetto black hole in far eastern edge of la county.
LA inner dwtn region-a slew of ghettos such as rampart, pico union, chinatowm, westlake, Jefferson park, boyle hts ring dtwn area.
East LA: a big illegal-alien/gang-infested black hole
Compton: big mixed black/immigrant/illegal-alien pocket
Alameda corridor/710 fwy; LA County grimy industrial district with 7-8 cities and 90% impoverished- mostly recent immigrant Hispanics with 1/3 of these being illegals.

NOTE: I am well qualified to make a detailed inventory of the geographic/demographic features of LA and indeed much of SCal as i spent 15 years as a delivery driver driving into a LOT of hoods and districts all over greater LA basin region. I know the makeup of LA as well as anyone actively blogging about LA.

There is only one solution to illegal alien human smuggling. Adopt the China policy and execute a few human smugglers. Better yet adopt a shoot to kill policy against the human and drug smuggling vermin. The coyotes & drug cartels laugh at our pitiful ACLU PC stance and weak-kneed response as they continue to smuggle illegals and drugs into USA.
The city of LA might as well just declare itself an international open borders sanctuary den and hoist the Mexican flag up at city hall. Here in Los Angeles and in my home city of long beach gang violence is an everyday occurrance. LA Times will not report it most times, except if a latino shoots a black then it become a federal civil rights issue.
The crimes committed by illegal alien gang bangers are wide ranging from ordinary purse snatchings to carjacking to armed robbery of liquor stores.
Much of these crimes are latino gangs battling each other in form of retaliation strikes and drive-bys which almost never get reported but you also have these gangs committing property crimes, vandalism, and robberies against the innocents over the entire city/region. Remember, LA is the origination for much of USA organized drug mafia gang activity and is where Salvador matrucia MS-13 was spawned. It all started in LA in the grimy dwtn and east LA illegal-alien apt stews back in 80's and early 90's before going nationwide at beginning of last decade.

In LA the gang problem is huge and protean, and really cannot be eradicated easily. There are 50,000 hard core gang members and 200 gangs in lA city alone, but add their associates and you boost the total numbers of gangstas in the county to over 100,000, even as high as 150,000, which is a sizable army in many countries. LAPD, LBPD and the other regional Police agencies really cannot get a grip on it and despite media organized PR publicity stunts advertising the success in busting this gang or that they really cannot do much except keep the gangs confined to the nasty inner city stews and protect the few clean middle class suburbs scattered around LA.

I have a personal interest in these stories of pot growing in the Ca mountains as i have hiked and backpacked in a lot of those mts, though much of my trips in the local LA/Scal ranges was way back in the 70s' ,and most of my sierra jaunts were done in the 90's.

Back in the 70's i hiked all over the San Gabriels and San Berdoo mt ranges and often in remote areas deep in those mts. back then then there were no large scale pot farms anywhere or i would have stumbled upon them, and likely would have been nabbed and shot.

Back then the local mts were safe and free of Mex/cartel pot farms, LA/Scal was a mostly clean region with few immigrants and few slums, no frwy graffiti, a land of clean tidy suburbs, and CA schools and Gov't were still top notch. U could hike in safety all over the local mts and only had to worry about ticks,, sunburn, tree snags, blisters and not worry about stumbling upon a trip wired pot farm guarded by armed Michocan gangsta/thugs who could cut u down deep in the mts and make u dissappear without a trace.

That was LA back then, now it is much more dangerous to hike into the hills unless u stick to a few popular crowded trails and don't stray off the beaten path.

The LA Gang Tour is nothing but a slick marketing gimmick which attempts to cash in on LA third world blight and the associated burgeoning gang problems, which have always been fundamental features of LA inner ghettos and are now ensconced in formerly tidy LA county burgs such as Torrance, Carson, Santa Monica, Venice, Mar Vista, Culver City, ad nauseum.

LA City agencies and city leaders cannot do nothing: do not look for leadership from them. LA City is essentially bankrupt and is a sealed-off bubble separate from the vast ghetto spreads which start right at City Hall's doorstep. Villarigosa is only interested in his own self esteem, is a selfish promoter of himself, and is in the pockets of the big dwtn developers and other interests. The rest of LA' s leadership elites, virtually all Dem's, are essentially useless flotsam floating in a vast sea of 3rd world ghettos which ring and surround the central LA DWTN district. They are only interested in demagoging the largely immigrant plebeian PPL thru the roman-style concept of free bread and circuses handed out to the public( in the form of endless free welfare, free education for their kids, and a vast array of social services), as long as the the Dems can control the socialist/labor union agenda and keep getting re-elected to perpetual office.

LA has serious problems and is headed toward a permanent Detroit status till US makes long term fundamental changes in the problems of outsourcing all manufacturing & high tech jobs, and stops importing cheap illegal immigrant labor. Otherwise LA wil permanently cement itself as a third world bifurcated city with a hugh labor/service plebian population making average $10 an hr, and a small wealthy oligarchy clinging to their villas and enclaves in a narrow beach front strip and in the hollywood hills.
Very few outside those actualy living in LA really know the extent of the impoverished spread of third world ghettos, which are 80% of the city and 60% of the county. Entire formerly middle class suburbs such as large parts of the San Fernando Valley have simply declined into slovenly untidy decrepit slumburgs. An entire 10 X 15 mile section of south central LA( 150 sq miles),is so transformed into one gigantic 3rd worlds ghetto that u can drive thru it entirely and find not a single person who speaks Eglish as a first language.
LA City hall cannot nor will not halt this process of overall de-gentrification which has accelerated last 2 years in the current economic and real estate meltdown. City Hall and mayor are useles entities. LA is headed toward Detriot-type permanant urban decay as the last shreads of manufacturing have left this city. The last RE bubble only resulted in more ugly housing/commercial additions now pockmarking the city as foreclosed blighted structures.

This was written almost 2 yrs ago but nothing has changed. If anything, the situation has likely worsened. LA's UE rate is officially 14% but the real UE rate is around 23-24%. The city is overridden by foreclosures and lots of closed shops and commercial firms. I used to drive all over the city as a driver pre-2008 and even then there was lots of decay and deterioration in it's vast slumzones. The real estate bubble was just starting to collapse in mid-late 2007 and i knew back then that all the new speculative real estate developments going up were a ticking timebomb. I have not driven since 2008 but i know that the city has contnued to deteriorate as the RE bubble collapse hit LA harder than any other city in USA. Note: there are few sources of primary source info coming out of LA detailing it's collapses during the great recession/near depression of 2008-2011. The main source of info for most folks about LA is the venerable but dem agi-prop newspaper the LA Times, which is not interested in detailing it's gritty depressionary aspects.
